Artillery at the Golden Gate: The Harbor Defenses of San Francisco in World War II Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I bought this book expecting to find a history of the fortifications around the San Francisco area, and I guess I got that, from a social perspective. The book is short, lacks detailed maps, is short on maps in general, and focusses far too much on individual personalities and banal human interest tidbits.
Nowhere in this work is there a comprehensive listing of positions, weapons, or locations, which is what it desperately needs.
I cannot ecommend this book to anyone interested in visiting the coast fortification sites.
