The novel is about the murder of Harold, the future husband of Felicity Harrington, a young college graduate and daughter of the important, rich family in San Francisco. The opening scene and murder take place in their wedding at the Harrington's mansion. Felicity was to receive something valuable the day of her wedding, and so that is why her future husband got killed to prevent this from happening. Detective Spencer Holmes, grandson of Sherlock Holmes, and his associate Sowhat Dihje take charge to find the murderer of Harold and the murderer of the five men connected to Felicity.
