"Ariana Leaves San Francisco" is the illustrated true story of a young sea lion who leaves her Pier 39 home location with her pack and journeys north to Florence, Oregon along with her parent sea lions to visit and help care for some sea lion and walrus relatives. Ariana is apprehensive about the move, but despite obstacles, loneliness, and fear, she eventually embraces her new home with her mother (who is pregnant) and family. Based on an actual recorded event in December of 2009, "Ariana Leaves San Francisco" is a gentle children's teaching tale that encourages kids to work through their difficult feelings about large events in their lives, such as major moves, that they cannot control.
