Fourth grade meant learning about California missions--visiting some, researching others, and heading off to the craft store for bits and pieces to create a miniature mission for the classroom. (Okay, I had to let my kids do the actual building.)
White takes us inside several missions located in the San Francisco Bay Area and shares with kids what each one was like and a little about mission life surrounding them. That's fortunate for us who no longer have fourth graders. It's even more fortunate for those kids getting ready to build those missions themselves. A very valuable book for any child learning California history.
